How each desk actually works

Eight mandates, eight different jobs

Nothing below is a renamed version of the same paragraph. Equities, credit, FX and property are underwritten differently because they fail differently.

01

U.S. & global equities

Public-market books are built stock by stock against a written policy: single-name caps, sector ceilings and a cash buffer for rebalancing. A growth account for a founder is not the same product as a dividend book for a retiree. We stage purchases, watch tax lots on taxable accounts, and sell when the thesis breaks — not to look busy. Liquidity is checked before we buy.

02

Bonds, Treasuries & credit

Income portfolios are ladders and barbells in Treasuries, agencies and investment-grade credit. Duration is chosen from when you need the money back, not from a yield screen. We quote yield-to-worst, cap issuers, and will not drop into junk to manufacture a number the market is not offering. Coupons can sweep to cash or to the equity account.

03

Real estate

Property sits in two sleeves on purpose: listed REITs you can sell, and direct or partnership deals you cannot. We underwrite rent rolls, tenant credit, capex and the sponsor’s habit of returning capital. Speculative land and peak-rent development stories are declined. Tax packs are routed to your accountant on a calendar, not in August.

04

Private markets

Private equity and selected co-investments are for qualified clients who can meet capital calls without selling public stocks at a bad time. We send the PPM, fee table and a plain-English ugly case before any subscription. There is no house PE fund — we allocate to managers so we stay on your side of the fee table. NAV is not cash.

05

Foreign exchange

The FX desk converts, hedges invoices and overlays portfolio currency. Spot, window forwards and standing supplier payments are quoted before you deal. Hedge ratios are written; a directional wager dressed as a hedge is refused. Confirmations, tenor and beneficiary details live on one blotter so Friday-afternoon wires do not go to the wrong place.

06

Digital assets

Optional, small, and documented. Bitcoin and ether in qualified custody with dual control, typically a low-single-digit percent of the book. No lending of tokens, no yield farms, no unlisted deals. Caps are enforced on the way up. If you need this sleeve to change your life, you need a specialist — not a diversified firm.

07

Business & investment loans

Revolvers, term loans and facilities secured by assets held with us. The on-site calculator is an illustration, not a commitment. Credit reads cash flow, collateral and purpose in that order. We will not require a trading account as a condition of the loan, and we would rather decline a stretched structure than book it.

Lending detail
08

Commodities & energy

Gold, broad commodity vehicles and selected energy names used as diversifiers. Size starts in the mid-single digits unless you have a documented operating hedge. We talk about roll cost and contango before we buy. There is no weekly crude call, no physical barrels, and no story stock we cannot unwind.

What clients tell the desk

Reviewer Image
Sarah Mitchell Private investor, Houston

They treated FX as a hedge for our payables, not as a way to juice return. That professionalism is rare.

Reviewer Image
James Whitaker Importer, Miami

Equities and a REIT sleeve in one report, with a person in Miami I can actually call. That is the whole product for us.

Reviewer Image
Emily Carter Family office, Atlanta

I wanted a business facility without being upsold a trading account. They modelled the loan, declined extra leverage, and I funded.

Reviewer Image
Michael Brennan Tech founder, Austin

Four years in, the process has not changed: written mandate, quarterly review, no drama. That is what I pay for.

Robert Hayes Physician, Jacksonville

The desk is responsive, the reporting is clear, and they do not oversell returns. That combination is why I kept capital with eTrustFinancial.
